Michael Mueller Another superb ambient release from LFZ.

Unlike their eponymous release - which was a pair of outstanding epics - this suite of songs is more synthesised in tone and feel, and a bit little more tense in the mood it generates.

Closer to Blade Runner than Pink Floyd this time, the keyboard pulse that's heard in many places throughout is reminiscent of Phillip Glass, and it's this that gives the album its simmering tension.

Of note: the album looks and sounds absolutely wonderful on vinyl. Favorite track: An Ambiguous Utopia.

As a collection, "Name Plus Focus" represents multiple facets and characteristics of one's whole true self while staring into the dark abyss with determination to find purpose. It links these notions with elemental themes of nature in both senses; the physical realm and the inner landscape. Drawn from a much larger body of work, this selection of music -recorded in a number of locations utilizing many different synthesizers, guitars, and recording techniques both analog and digital- exemplifies the multifaceted approach to music making that is the tradition of LFZ.

For what is effectively an outtakes album (the first three tracks being from the sessions for 'Face Stabber'), "Metamorphosed" doesn't fuck about in any sense of the word. Said first three tracks get your shit pumping hard; 'Saigant' especially is a god-tier starter. The following 37 minutes after that (moreso alluding to 'I Got A Lot' here) is purely "yeah, we love CAN; here's our take on a Tago Mago-style jam". Two complete polar opposite extremes, and yet they work together magnificently. Xtra Happy
